MUSIC TUITION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before calling with your tuition enquiry, please feel free to read through these most frequently asked questions which will provide you with some really helpful information.
Do I need to have my own instrument before I commence lessons?
No, not at all. We have instruments here out our office ready for you to use.
Can I hire or borrow an instrument for home practice time?
Yes, we have quality instruments available for hire so you can keep up with your music practice at home. We also have a “music instrument library” equipped with standard quality instruments that are free to borrow.
Are lesson times individual (ie one-to-one) with the tutor?
Yes, all our student lesson times are individual one-to-one between tutor and pupil only. This cuts out all distractions that may interfere with valuable lesson times and ensures each student stays focused and continues in unbroken concentration.
Do you cater for absolute beginners?
Yes, we cater for young ones who are just starting to play, to junior and senior teenagers who may wish to pursue a music career, to younger and older adults to pensioners who have always wanted to learn an instrument perhaps for recreation, family or social reasons.
Do you do trial or part-time lessons?
Trial lessons are available on request to help the uncertain get started and a range of tuition incentives are in place – including early payment discounts and reduced rates for juniors, low income earners, and pensioners. Our trial music lessons should help you decide on your commitment to a full term of instrument tuition. Fortnightly tuition is available in genuine transport / travel circumstances for long distance students but it is recommended to do a mixture ie: adding in two or three weekly sessions within the term.
What do I do if I cannot attend one or more lessons in the term?
Any missed lessons over the course of the term are rescheduled as a catch up lesson to ensure you get the total term lesson time that you paid for. These make up or catch up lessons can be allocated to suit your schedule ie: same day, week or anytime during the term.
Do you do in-home tuition?
In genuine cases we can come to you: In cases of genuine transport or health difficulty, if the parent/carer or music student is incapacitated, invalided, house bound or in some way unable to take lessons at our studio then we can come to you - even in hospital or any type of rehabilitation, recovery, or halfway house. To calculate the cost, simply add $45 per lesson to all the amounts shown in the columns above. Contact us to discuss you options.
How long do I need each week for my lesson?
Your tuition needs will vary depending on a number of issues including age, previous skills or experience, courses and chosen instrument and have to be tempered by other factors like the demand for the tutors services and their qualifications. Usually, senior high students through to adult require the standard full-unit one hour per week session. The standard half-unit half hour weekly session will usually suffice for primary age children through to junior high level. The good news is that we will determine how long you require each week so you can just relax and enjoy learning your chosen instrument.
Do I need any books or CDs or DVDs before I commence tuition?
We provide all the materials you need as part of your starter pack. This usually includes a tuition book, tape, folder, CD’s, DVD’s and any other course material you may have registered for. So you can relax. All you need to do is come in for your music lessons and we’ll do the rest for you.
Can I get a fees discount?
Yes, we offer a range of fees discounts based on age, inexperience, income, early payment and some other incentives. Check out some of our fees discounts here.

Do you offer a fees discount for more than one student attending per family group?
Yes, tuition rates decrease for each person as more students from the same group or family/friends commence lessons. If, for example, a brother wanted to play guitar while the sister wanted to learn the piano, the family would attract a fees discount making enrolment costs cheaper and easier.
